Welcome to Year 5/6 LB
Hello and welcome to Year 5/6 LB. Mrs Bee, Miss Lee and Mrs Peace hope you all had a lovely summer break and look forward to the new school year.
Our topic this term is Behind Enemy Lines. The children will be learning about World War One.
In English we will be reading the novel Private Peaceful by Michael Morpurgo which links to our topic. We will also look at some World War One poetry.
Our mathematics focus will be:
- Place value
- Addition and Subtraction
- Multiplication and Division
Y5 & Y6: P.E. Monday am
Y5: Swimming Tuesday am.
Y6: P.E. Friday am
In Year 5/6 we feel homework is important as it prepares the children for secondary school. Homework tasks including spellings will be handed out on Monday to be returned on Friday.
As part of their homework children will be expected to read at home at least three times each week. In Year 5 and 6 it is not expected that they read aloud to an adult but if you know they have read at home, can we please ask that you sign their reading record.
