Welcome back after the half term holidays .It’s another short half term but we’ve got lots to fit in. Before the holiday year three and four children looked at a range of artefacts and pictures linked to our new topic “Urban Pioneers” and came up with their own questions to investigate. They were also very interested in finding out more about water and so we will be looking at the water cycling in great detail too. We can’t wait to find out the answers to some of their exciting questions.
Our topic this half term is Urban Pioneers . This topic looks at the work of graffiti artists and how graffiti impacts on the environment around us. We will be carrying out lots of debates about what is right and wrong and what the word vandalism means to each of us. We will be creating our own art work linked to the theme of graffiti and displaying it on our own graffiti walls.
In English we will be reading the book Scribble Boy by Phillip Ridley about a street artist that mysteriously disappeared but could now be back. We will also be creating a range of performance poems to display alongside our art work. These will link to our urban life theme. We will use the idea of vandalism or art to write our own pieces of debate work and help us share views.
We will continue to practise and learn our times tables this half term. Please practise at home we should now be learning our six and eight times tables. Ask you children to use these times tables to create fact families so they can see the link between multiplication and division.
We will continue to use problem solving skills to help us apply our growing knowledge of the four operations.
Our sessions continue to be a Monday and now Thursdays for both classes. Please remind your child to bring in their PE kits.
Thank you again for your continued support.
