Welcome back. Hope you have all had a lovely half term and enjoyed the sun. We can’t believe it’s the last half term of the year, and another exciting one planned for year three and four, with our new topicPredator.
Our topic this half term is called Predator. In this topic the children will be learning all about a variety of different predators found all around the world. We will be looking at food chains and webs and how losing a species of animal within a food chain has an impact on all living things within it. We will be using maps, globes and atlases to identify different habitats and locate different countries in the world. We will investigate the answers to the questions that your children have asked after looking at our topic box.
In English we will be reading a variety of non-fiction texts looking at fact files about endangered animals, reading and writing debates and creating letters. We will be reading the text Fantastic Mr Fox by Roald Dahl and discussing the rights of the animals and farmers within this book. Keep a look out for some of the amazing texts your children are creating on Facebook and the school website. We have some fantastic writers in year three and four now. Don’t forget to help your child to learn their spellings. These continue to be given out weekly and certificates given out in Friday’s celebration assembly.
This half term we continue to work hard on learning all our times tables. We will also be looking at data handling and using our basic skills in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to solve more complex problems. Please ask your children to demonstrate the work they have been carrying out in Mathematics in order to support their understanding at home. The children are really enjoying using their new home school maths books and homework will be set weekly from these please support your child in using them.
Our sessions continue to be a Monday and Thursday. Please remind your children to bring in their PE kits. Sports Day will also be held this half term so get practising for those parents races.
Thank you again for your continued support.
